Our story

After more than ten years building high-performing recruitment teams across global STEM markets, I reached a point where I felt ready to do things my own way.
Over that time, I worked extensively on mid- to senior-level permanent hires and highly skilled freelance talent in competitive, fast-moving environments. Most of what I learned came through experience — and plenty of mistakes. What became clear early on was that the best outcomes don’t come from volume or speed alone, but from trust, consistency, and working in a genuinely consultative way.
I’ve always believed there are two ways to stand out in business: be first, or be genuinely excellent. Our focus is on the latter — being deeply informed, highly efficient, and adding real value at every step. When done properly, that approach often puts you ahead anyway.
Nyedge was built around that idea. The name combines “Ny”, meaning new in Scandinavian languages, with “edge” — a core principle of the business. We aim to find the edge in everything we do.
Our ambition is to build a global team of exceptional consultants focused on energy trading and related markets, delivering a level of service that genuinely sits in the top 0.1%. We continuously refine our processes and use technology, including AI, to improve efficiency — but the foundation of our work is always human relationships.
We’re not a loud business, and we don’t overstate our successes. We prefer to focus on doing the work properly and letting the results speak for themselves.
If this approach resonates with you, we’d be glad to explore how we could work together.

Michael Axe

Founder & Director

I’m Michael, founder of Nyedge. I genuinely love what I do — particularly helping people refine their craft and achieve levels of growth and performance they didn’t think were possible.

What matters most to me is working with people who are hungry to improve, who take pride in what they do, and who have real ambition to be the best in the world at their craft. That mindset sits at the core of how I build teams and relationships.

Outside of building Nyedge, you’ll usually find me trying to level up my padel and golf game, running, or training in the gym. When I’m not working or playing sport, I’m spending time with my partner and my dog, travelling where possible, and exploring great food — I’m a big believer that some of the best conversations happen around a good table.

Like anyone, my journey has had its ups and downs, and I’ve learned a lot along the way — with plenty more still to learn. One of the biggest lessons has been how important it is to choose the right people to spend your time with. That’s why I’m focused on building a positive, high-quality environment with good people, so we can enjoy the journey of building something exceptional together.

Kadel King

Principal Consultant

I’m Kadel, a Principal Consultant at Nyedge.

Before moving into recruitment, I spent 7 seasons playing professional American football in Canada, France, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Poland and Spain. Now I spend my spare weekends continuing to help grow the British American Football community.

Workwise – I enjoy working with ambitious people who want to get more out of their lives and take action to do it. What matters most to me is being around people who are driven to improve, take pride in their work, and bring energy into everything they do. I believe the best environments are those where you’re growing personally & professionally, enjoying the process, and waking up excited to build something meaningful.

Outside of headhunting, you’ll usually find me training in the gym, watching anime, trying out new restaurants or doing some random activities on the weekend – hyrox or even an escape room!

Jessica

Jessica Sharkey

Recruitment & Operations Consultant

I’m Jessica, a Recruitment and Operations Consultant at Nyedge.

Before moving into recruitment, I completed a degree in Spanish and Business Management at King’s College London. I’m an avid language learner — Spanish, Catalan, French and Thai so far, with many more to come — and I love travelling to explore new cultures and communities. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me practising martial arts, getting lost in a good book, or attempting to dance salsa.

At the core of what I do is building strong, trusted relationships. I take real pride in helping both companies and candidates achieve their goals while working with good people who care about what they do. For me, adding value means bringing clarity, support and ease into the hiring process so everyone can perform at their best.

Alongside recruitment, I’m also deeply involved in our operations and internal culture, helping to create an environment where people feel supported, aligned and passionate about their work.
